Thomas E. “Grubby” Grubbs worked for Sheldon Gas Company

Thomas E. “Grubby” Grubbs, age 85, of Dola, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on December 22, 1937, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Lonnie and Ethel Pearl (Kindle) Grubbs.  On January 29, 1961 Tom married Patricia Ann Shea and she preceded him in death on October 16, 2017. 

Tom is survived a daughter, Tina (Larry) Anderson of Dunkirk.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Tom retired from Sheldon Gas Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran with the rank of SP4.

Stephen L. Hattery worked for Shawnee Manor

 Stephen L. Hattery, age 78, of Lima, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 5:17 PM at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. 

He was born on May 20, 1945, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Leo and Virginia (Armstrong) Hattery.  On February 18, 1969 Stephen married Shirley A. Legge and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2012. 

J. Robert “Bob” Daft was a farmer and school board member

John Robert “Bob” Daft, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Willow Ridge of Mennonite Home Communities in Bluffton, Ohio at 8:05 a.m.  He was born on December 17, 1930, to the late Olney and Beulah (Morrison) Daft. He married Edith M. Henry on Easter Sunday, March 25, 1951.  She preceded him in death on January 9, 2013. 

Bob is survived by his two children: Mark (Cathy) Daft of rural Ada and Donna Bosse of rural Bluffton; son-in-law, Kenneth Rader of Lima; ten grandchildren: Lee (Carole) Daft, Kelly (Jacob) Huber, Ty (Bethany) Daft, Beau (Amanda) Daft, Janet (Ben) Simms, Andy (Shelly) Rader, Cheri (Kory) Hubbell, Michelle (Justin) Craig, Brooke (Jason) Bormuth and Kimberly (Isaac) Hughes; twenty-eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha E. Rader; sister, Mildred Palmer; and a son-in-law, Jay Bosse. 

Bob was a lifelong farmer, born on, living on and expanding the farm that his great-great-grandfather bought from the government in 1837. He was a proud possessor of the original deed. He served on the Board of Directors of the Ada Farmers Exchange for 24 years, the Board of Directors of the Ohio Farmers Grain and Supply Company, the Ada Board of Education and was a member of the Hancock Co. Farm Bureau. He was a Hancock County 4-H advisor and served as Elder in the Bethel Church of Christ for many years filling many different roles. He loved teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and in a traveling men’s quartet.  He was key in starting a men’s singing group at Maple Crest Retirement Home. Bob was most proud of the family that he and Edith built together.

 Khristo Nonev Boyadzhiev was an ONU professor of mathematics

 Khristo Nonev Boyadzhiev, age 74, of Ada, passed away at his home at 9:02 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. 

He was born on September 4, 1948, in Sofia, Bulgaria to the late Nonyo and Maria (Doneva) Boyadzhiev.  On May 8, 1982 Khristo married Irina Dimitrova and she survives in Ada. 

Obituary for Lorrene Waddle

Lorrene Waddle, age 88, of Roundhead, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 4:18 a.m. at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.    

She was born on November 26 ,1934, in Kentucky to the late Beecher and Katie Shepherd. On May 7, 1951, Lorrene married Ronald Waddle and he preceded her in death on August 8, 2006.  

D. Jacqueline Kent worked for the Ada Schools

D. Jacqueline Kent, age 85, of Ada, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:27 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System. 

She was born on June 23, 1937, in Middlesboro, KY to the late Royce and Edna (Mason) Sampson. On August 7, 1955 Jackie married Darrell E. Kent and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2012.
