ADA__The Ada High School baseball team lost a tough 7-5 battle to Hardin County rival Kenton in the final inning on a chilly Thursday, May 7, at War Memorial Park.
The Bulldogs tallied two runs in the second inning and added two more in the third to grab a 4-1 lead.
Kenton tied it with a three-run rally in the top of the fourth. Each team scored a run in the sixth, and the Wildcats plated two tie-breaking runs in the seventh to win it.
“If we want to win these close games, we have to improve in the important areas,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “Limit your strikeouts, make routine plays and throw strikes.”
Ada's Ream-McElroy VFW Post 9381 will hold a May 16 golf outing at Hidden Creek Golf Course, according to post commander J.D. Fleece. For more Information, contact Allen Conley at 419-235-2317.
For $280 per four-person team, participation includes a meal, two carts and golf.
Fleece reported that the post is currently closed with an anticipated opening of June 2.
FOSTORIA __The visiting Ada High School tennis team defeated Fostoria 3-2 in a tough match on a chilly Wednesday evening, May 6.
The improved Bulldog netters improved to 2-6 after recording their second straight victory.
“We had a beautiful night of tennis,” said first-year Ada head coach Shelleigh Alexander, who is a Fostoria alumnus. “It was nice to be back home. It was a cold night for tennis, but it turned out great. We have a win streak going now.”
Ada senior Justin Bowden won a lengthy 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) battle at first singles over junior Landon Sherman.
ADA__The visiting Ada High School baseball team surrendered two runs just one out from victory and lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at non-conference foe Fort Jennings on Wednesday, May 6.
The Bulldogs tallied two runs in the top of the sixth inning to forge ahead, 4-3.
But Fort Jennings won it in walk-off fashion with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when first baseman Evan Ellerbrock punched a two-run single to an open spot in the defense.
