ONU will induct four into Athletic Hall of Fame

Four members of the Ohio Northern University athletic family will be inducted into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 18, as part of ONU’s Homecoming weekend.

They will be inducted that Friday during a banquet in Ohio Northern’s McIntosh Center and introduced Saturday, Oct. 19, before the ONU football game at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

Ohio Northern to present Kremlin Chamber Orchestra

Ohio Northern University’s Department of Music presents the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m.

The concert will take place in the Snyder Recital Hall in Presser Hall and is free and open to the public.

Founded in 1991, the orchestra, comprised of some of Russia’s finest young string players, has carved a niche for itself under the creative baton of its founder and music director Misha Rachlevsky.

Nearly half of the more than 1,600 concerts the orchestra has performed to date have taken place in Moscow; the rest were played on tours in 24 countries in Europe, North and South America, and the Far East.

ONU's Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences to discuss "Battling Hidden Hunger"

Ohio Northern University will host a lecture titled “Battling Hidden Hunger” by Dr. Sharon A. Norton, director of development for the Mathile Institute for the Advancement of Human Nutrition, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. This lecture is free and open to the public.

ONU’s Cultural Conversation hour to focus on ‘self-defense, stand your ground and the Trayvon Martin tragedy’

“Shoot First, Ask Questions Later: Self-Defense, Stand Your Ground, and the Trayvon Martin Tragedy,” will be the title of the discussion during the Ohio Northern University Cultural Conversation hour in the Celebrezze Court Room on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m.

The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Black Student Union, the Black Law Student Association and the Office of Multicultural Development.

Latin Food Day Fest at ONU Oct. 4

The Latino/a Student Unions of Ohio Northern, Bowling Green State University and University of Toledo will be hosting Latin Food Day and Festival at ONU in Affinity Commons on Saturday, Oct. 5  from 2-7 p.m.

The festival and food day are being hosted to educate the campus about Hispanic culture, and raise awareness about the LSU chapters at other Ohio campuses.

Activities include  water balloon toss, tug of war, Frisbee, corn hole, soccer, football and dancing. Music will be at the event, and Latin food. Tickets are $5 and the event is open to the public.

ONU to observe Constitution Day with showing of Fourth Amendment documentary

Ohio Northern University will observe Constitution Day with a showing of “Search and Seizure: Mapp vs. Ohio,” a short documentary from The Constitution Project, in the Dicke Forum on Monday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

This documentary explores the Fourth Amendment case Mapp vs. Ohio, in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that evidence illegally obtained by police is not admissible in state courts. This 1961 case redefined the rights of the accused. Following the showing of the documentary, Bryan Ward, ONU associate dean and professor of law, will conduct a question-and-answer session to discuss issues arising from search and seizure.
