Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present the 2014 Kormendy Lecture in the Large Moot Court Room on Wednesday, April 23, at 11:15 a.m. The program will feature a presentation by Fredrik Logevall, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “Embers of War: The Fall of an Empire and the Making of America’s Vietnam.”

Logevall is an award-winning and renowned historian, accomplished educator, and prolific writer on the Vietnam War. His epic and groundbreaking book “Embers of War” won both the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in History and the prestigious Parkman Prize, which deemed it an “extraordinary work of modern history.”

The Ohio Northern University Department of Technological Studies received numerous honors at the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) conference in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29.

Ohio Northern students Ben Freer, a sophomore technology education major from Ashland, Ohio, and Brandon Ike, a sophomore technology education major from Sidney, Ohio, were undergraduate scholarship co-winners of the Foundation for Technology and Engineering Educators award. The two will receive $500, respectively.   

Ohio Northern University’s Center for Democratic Governance and Rule of Law explores the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda with events on Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11.

A screening of the movie “Hotel Rwanda” will be held on Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Dicke Forum. The movie follows one man’s experience saving his family and others during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. After the movie, there will be a question-and-answer session with two people present during the genocide and its aftermath: Jean-Marie Kamatali, ONU assistant professor of law, and Kofi Nsia-Pepra, ONU assistant professor of political science.

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “Footloose” on April 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. and two matinee performances on April 12-13 at 2 p.m.
