Ohio Northern University has a full slate of activities on tap for Homecoming weekend Oct. 4-6.
The annual event offers a special time for former students to return to their college home, relive cherished memories, visit with longtime friends and reconnect with their alma mater.
FROM THE ONU WEBSITE - On the evening of Sept. 11, 2019, Dial-Roberson Stadium was a sight to behold. Dozens of people made their way up and down the stadium steps over and over.
They marched for the victims, they marched for the first responders, they marched for those who answered the call to defend their homeland and our freedom.
The 9/11 Stair Climb, as it has come to be known, began as an ROTC effort, started by recent graduate Bryce Bouman, BS ’19, but this year marked the first time that it took place on ONU’s campus as an organized public event, hosted by the newly re-established Ohio Northern Veterans Organization (ONVO).
More than 150 students are expected to participate in the third annual “Love Where You Live Day” on-campus community service event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The students will be involved in activities such as cleaning, landscaping and painting.
The event, which is coordinated by ONU’s Office of Residence Life, is designed to help foster a sense of community service as part of the Ohio Northern educational experience. It is also intended to help them feel a deeper connection go their college home.
It also serves to kick off “Spirit Week,” leading up to homecoming weekend Oct. 4 through Oct. 6.
The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre Arts will present a lecture demonstration, “Dancing History,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
Guest artist and dance historian Thomas Baird has been on campus working with ONU students to develop historical dance techniques. Audiences can expect to witness changes of period dance styles, dress and music.
Tickets are $10 for adults and seniors and $5 for students and children. To order, visit freedcenter.comor call the box office at 419-772-1900.
