FROM FACEBOOK__The Ada Public Library will host a September 1 book club discussion on The Music of Bees by Eileen Garvin. The discussion begins at 6:00 p.m.
Glenda J. Shobe, age 83, of Ada, passed away on Monday, August 24 at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on December 31, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, to Glenn and Irene (Hall) Ball. Her father, Glenn Ball and her mother and stepfather, Irene and James Mullins, all preceded her in death. Glenda was previously married to Richard Tracy Newton and he preceded her in death. In 1984, Glenda married Chester “Chet” Shobe and he survives in Ada.
MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued a reminder that Ohio's fall hunting season begins on September 1.
As the 2026 fall seasons begin, hunters are reminded to check the current regulations for changes to season dates and daily limits. New waterfowl hunting zones take effect this year, so hunters should confirm the zone of their hunting location before the regular seasons kick off in October.

ADA __The Ada High School volleyball team defeated visiting Hardin County rival Kenton in a three-set non-league match on Tuesday, August 25.
Ada improved to 2-0 with the 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 victory. The Wildcats dropped to 1-4 with the loss.
“Our middles, Dailah and Brook, did a great job taking care of the ball and making smart plays offensively,” said new Ada head coach Kylie Murphy. “All of our hitters did a great job at the net creating a strong block.

Ada's first celebration of National Night Out on August 5 was full of enthusiasm among hosts and guests. The highly organized event was well staffed with Village of Ada, Liberty Township, Hardin County and Ohio Highway Patrol representatives and many volunteers. Some 34 organizations and individuals supported the event (listed below).
