ADA__Behind a 35-point first-period outburst, the Ada High School football team hammered visiting Blanchard Valley Conference foe Elmwood 50-20 on a warm Military Appreciation Night Friday, Sept. 12 at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the BVC with the decisive win. The Royals dropped to 0-4 and 0-2 in BVC action after the defeat.

I have submitted several historical pieces to the Icon, and I completed a project recently that I thought might be of interest. I moved an old horse shed from the two-hundred block of South Simon St. to our property on West Lima Ave and restored it for storage.

I was driving down South Simon St, and I noticed an old, sad-looking shed/garage on the back of a vacant lot. I assumed that whoever owned it would be glad to see it gone, so I investigated and located the owner, who, as I expected, was happy to sell it to me for a dollar.

As the seasons change and flu season approaches, healthcare providers and public health experts strongly encourage individuals to get annual flu shots. Despite ongoing awareness campaigns, many hesitate due to lingering myths or misunderstandings. The truth is, getting a flu shot is one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your health and those around you.

The 2025 Ada Public Library Summer Reading program was dramatically successful with 43 events, 2,634 event attendees, 736 register participants and 23,731 items circulated during the program. The numbers above were reported to library trustees on August 26 by director Rhett Grant.
