Ada's latest news

Ricky D. Dunson, age 71, of Kenton, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Lima Memorial Health System. 

He was born on June 17, 1954 to the late Paul and Joan (Howard) Dunson.  Rick was previously married to Jackie (Tom) Bartels. 

Surviving are his two children: Derek Dunson of Kenton and Angela (Jon) DeRolph of Glenford; and two grandsons: Wyatt and Waylon. 

Rick was preceded in death by his half-brother, John Paul Dunson. 

Rick retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a rural mail carrier. He also farmed and raised livestock. He was a member of the Heritage Christian Union Church, Forest. Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter.   

Peggy S. Gibson, age 58, of Ada, went home holding God’s hand on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at home with her family by her side. 

She was born on April 9, 1967 in Lima, Ohio to William D. and Eileen M. (Legg) Kindle.  Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Dunkirk. On September 27, 1987 Peggy married Robert R. Gibson and he survives in Ada.

Ada Police arrest suspect, seek to return stolen items

The Ada Icon reports on a lot of public meetings in Ada but that still only accounts for a small fraction of the public meetings on our Community Calendar. In recent months I've begun reviewing minutes for meetings we don't sent a reporter to, including the library.
