A farewell dinner was held last week by the Friends of Findlay at the Findlay Inn for Kiyoshi Yamazaki and his wife, Midori, of Ada Technologies, Inc. Yamazaki is president of Ada Technologies.
The group recognized Yamazaki's efforts as his tenure ends at the Ada plant. Kiyoshi and Midori will be returning to Japan at the end of April.
Jamie Hall, Assistant Administrator for the Village of Ada, and John Hohn, Director of Economic Development of Hardin County, presented the Yamazaki's with a gift and a proclamation from the Hardin County Commissioners.

The Ohio Northern Univeristy Indian Student Assocation held a springtime "Holi Festival," over the weekend. It's a Festival of Colors. Following a brief presentation about the festival, and some snacks a "color fight" took place.
Holi is a Hindu festival that signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and the end of winter. During the festival, participants play, chase, and color each other with dry powder.
Amanda Liebrecht, a second-year pharmacy student from McComb, has been awarded a Newman Civic Fellows Award, sponsored by the KPMG Foundation, for her efforts in establishing a Sunday school program in Ada for the Catholic parish.
Liebrecht, along with several classmates, organized a Sunday school in which young children are supervised during the Sunday morning Mass service and a child-friendly lesson is provided for the children. The ONU students take turns preparing lessons for the children, which include Bible stories, a craft/project, some games, and a snack.
Sign-ups for the Ada summer swim team will be held Thursday, April 23, and Monday, April 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Ada First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main St. in Ada. Swimmers from ages 5 to 18 are invited.
The cost is $50 per child, with a $5 credit for each additional family member. This cost includes one ad per family in the championship heat sheet. A $10 late fee will be assessed for anyone registering after May 25.
Mark Hilan and Amy Eddings at Easter House, 508 N. Main St., Ada, invite Icon viewers to an Earth Day event at their home from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 22. The Victorian “painted lady,” known by many as the “Easter Egg House,” will be the scene of a free talk on fermented foods and their health benefits. The couple host Fermentation on Wheels’ Tara Whitsitt, who travels the country in an old school bus to promote making one’s own sauerkraut, sourdough and pickles. It’s free.
