Photos and story by Monty Siekerman
The Ada High School marching band will conclude a two-week summer camp with a free performance in the school's south parking lot at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28.

This year's competition show involves a chess game and is titled "Chess: Rise of the Pawns."

The 26-member band and 13 color guard members will perform at the Farmers and Merchants Picnic parade and the Harvest and Herb Fest parade before playing at the home and away football games.

Meet Prince. Prince is a male Pomeranian mix. He is 7 years old. Prince is a special needs dog. He has a dislocated hip that was never fixed so he cannot put his back leg down. He also had to be shaved due to the condition of his coat.. He is playful and very sweet. He gets around like there is nothing wrong with him. Can you give Prince a forever home?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The annual membership drive for the Ada Music Boosters is in progress.  A flyer was mailed to Ada households in June.  The Boosters encourage you to return it with a contribution towards this year’s fund-raising drive.

With the help of the Ada community, the Music Boosters are able to enhance music education and the performance-based programming for the Ada Schools.

The Music Boosters purchase choir robes, band uniforms, instruments, Varsity Singer costumes, props and music which support Ada’s state and regional award-winning winter guard, marching band and show choir.
