Liberty Belles and Boys held their third meeting for the 2017 season on Tuesday, April 18. There were 8 advisors and 28 members in attendance. After learning more about parliamentary procedure, the club welcomed 10 new members for a total of 42 members. The club then held their first official business meeting. Roll call was answered by naming your favorite junk food. New business was to change the person who received the bank statement to Adam Baumgartner and to add member Megan Light, club treasurer to the checking account. Motion was made, seconded and passed. Nora Dellifield broke the Ada High School pole vault record two days in a row. She went 8'7" Tuesday at Parkway and cleared 9'0" at Ben Logan on Wednesday.
A new $6.5 million residence hall at Glen Oakes Community College has been named in honor of former Ada residents David H. and Patricia A. Devier. Dr. Devier, who taught at ONU for 15 years, is now president of Glen Oakes in Centreville, Mich. He also writes an occasional column for the Ada Icon about ONU/Ada memorabilia that the couple has collected over the years.
The residence hall is scheduled for completion in August. The three-story, 108-bed, student housing project plans include two- and four-suite units that share kitchen and living areas and two bathrooms.
The Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4-H Club met Monday evening, April 17, at the Hardin Northern school with 39 members, 9 advisers, and 3 guests. Recreation for the evening was an Egg Relay led by Makenna Eibling.
Megan Miller gave a Treasurer's Report, and Emma Miller led role call. There was a safety demonstration by Kylie Clem on the importance of learning how to ride a bike safely. The club discussed using money for book taxes. Books were handed out by Bob Mcbride.
