The American Red Cross of Hardin County is helping two families involved in a home fire on Tuesday in Kenton.
Red Cross volunteers responded to a call for help at the home on W. North Street and provided the families with assistance for temporary shelter and immediate needs such as food and clothing. They also provided the family with Red Cross comfort kits of personal hygiene items.
Red Cross volunteers will continue to work with the family, providing additional assistance as needed and help with recovery planning including information, resources and referrals.
The end of the academic year brings many goodbyes, and that includes a farewell to Benjamin Obido Ayettey.
He returns to his native Ghana in June after spending the academic year in Ada teaching African drumming and dance at Ohio Northern University as a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence.
Passing by the McIntosh ballroom on last week, passers-by heard a beautiful voice rehearsing songs.
The singer was none other than 11-year-old Reagan Cox, preparing for the Liberty National Bank annual shareholders meeting to be held there that evening.
Reagan was invited to audition for "Americas Got Talent" last November in Detroit.
She is the daughter of Heather and Craig Cox of Miller City. Her mom is an assistant vice president at the bank and her dad manages a grocery store in Lima.
Stephan Johnson of Ada will entertain at this year's Bluffton Arts and Crafts Show. Johnson plays the Irish bagpipe. He will be at the show at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, and will do a walk-through the show area.

The polar bear and camel would be natural predators, so it's a good thing they live far apart in the wild. But at ONU on Wednesday afternoon, they had a good time together.
The Student Planning Committee sponsored the event which offered free camel rides. ONU mascot Klondike took them up on the deal, as did many students, faculty, and staff members and their children.
The camels came from Jungle Island Zoo in nearby Delphos.
