The 29th Annual Julie Cole Charity Golf Classic will take place on Monday, June 11, at the Findlay Country Club. Michael Reid, Pat McGowan and Findlay native, Julie Cole, will be the guest professionals.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast, followed by a professionals' clinic on the range at 9 a.m. The golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with the awards ceremony to follow. Spectators may purchase an all-day pass for $10 to watch the tournament and have lunch.

Independence House will host their annual classic car show Friday, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Independence House parking lot, 1000 Independence Road, Fostoria.

Classic cars will be displayed and the event will include food and refreshments. The show is free and open to the public. In the case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for June 15.

Those wishing to bring their classic cars for display should call 419.435.8505 to register or register the day of the event.

Opened in 1991, Independence House offers independent living, skilled nursing, assisted living and rehabilitation services. 

Here's the Icon's two-month Ada Hometown Happenings

All indications point to a very busy June and July in Ada.

The June-July Ada Icon Home Happenings calendar, compiled by Darlene Bowers, reveals just how busy things will get over the next 60 days or so.

The calendar provides details of events taking place in Ada at:

• Ohio Northern University
• The Freed Center
• The Inn at ONU
• Community events
• Ada Public Library

Rhett Grant, Ada Public Library director, and Natalie Walton, youth services coordinator, sign in people for the summer reading program at the Ada Public Library. Many people were on hand Saturday to register for summer reading and see bagpipers, small animals, emergency equipment, even a steel drum band. Inside the newly renovated and expanded library, the Friends of the Library sold books for a donation as well as t-shirts. The library was the “go to” place to be on Saturday.

First meet at home June 11 vs. Bluffton

The Ada Gators swim team first home meet will be against the Bluffton Sardines on Thursday, June 11. All meets begin at 6 p.m. Here is the season schedule:

David Archer (left) was inducted into the Ada High School Hall of Honors on Saturday during the AHS Alumni Association annual banquet. Keith Stover of Ft. Myers, Fla., was the oldest graduate present. He is retired from two management companies after having graduated in 1951. David, served as a Marine in Vietnam.
