The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on South Main in Kenton on from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The checkpoint is part of “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” high visibility traffic enforcement initiative covering the busy Labor Day weekend. A fatality occurs every 34 minutes in the U.S. during Labor Day weekend.

Sheriff Keith Everhart pointed out that highway safety data indicates
that highly visible enforcement campaigns reduce drunk-driving fatalities by
as much as 20%.

He said, "It's our goal to have an unmistakable presence, ready to arrest drunk drivers who put lives at risk.”

Acting on information developed by a narcotics investigation, the Hardin County Crime Task Force served a search warrant at 705 E. Franklin St. Kenton at 4:00 pm yesterday, August 23rd.

The Task Force was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Kenton and Forest Police Departments, The Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office and Hardin County Children’s Services.

Denton’s elderly mother did exit the residence and was safely removed from the scene.
