Ohio Northern University senior Bridget Davis, an electrical engineering major from Newark, Ohio, has been awarded the John W. Estey Outstanding Power and Energy (PES) Scholar Award. The scholarship is from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) PES Society Scholarship Plus Initiative.
Davis was only one of seven individuals to receive the scholarship. In its letter to ONU, the IEEE Power & Energy Society described Davis as a “high-achieving undergraduate student in an electrical engineering program who is committed to exploring the power and energy engineering field through both coursework and career experiences.”
Senior Branden Rushton scored a game-high 20 points and freshman Alex Radkiewicz added a career-high 12 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 82-57 win over Muskingum on Saturday evening at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears are now 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in OAC play, while the Fighting Muskies fall to 3-3, 0-3.
The scored was knotted at 35-35 at halftime, but ONU outscored Muskingum 47-22 in the second half.
Rushton finished 9-of-14 from the field, while Radkiewicz was a perfect 6-of-6 in shooting and also pulled down a career best seven rebounds.
Odie Mullins, 84, died on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at 7:44 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems, Lima.
She was born on Feb. 25, 1929, in Magoffin County, Ky., to Elijah and Millie (Shepherd) Joseph, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 9, 1949, she married Sam Mullins and he died June 17, 2007.
The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance announced the winner of the Buy Local First Holiday Contest, which ran from Nov. 9 - Dec. 12.
The Alliance partnered with the Buy Ada First Committee and 45 local businesses on the event. There were over $1,200 in prizes given away thanks to the participating businesses.
The Buy Local First Holiday Contest was a way to educate the community on the benefits of buying local and to encourage shoppers to buy local this holiday season.
