Twice as many hogs and pigs in the county as people

By Mark Badertscher
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service 2017 Census of Agriculture ranked Hardin County 5th in total market value of agricultural products sold in the state of Ohio.

Conducted once every five years, the census aims to get a complete and accurate picture of American agriculture.

The resulting data are used by farmers, ranchers, trade associations, researchers, policymakers, and many others to help make decisions in community planning, farm assistance programs, technology development, farm advocacy, agribusiness setup, rural development, and more.

Drop-off collection site provides, safe, easy way to support COVID-19 response

OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital and the Kenton-Hardin Health Department announced the opening of a temporary donation site to provide a safe, convenient way to donate needed medical supplies while honoring the Governor and the State's directives on social distancing and group gatherings.

To drop off a donation please come to the main entrance of the Sherriff Office located at 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

Donations can be dropped off in the tubs located in the interview room just inside the lobby.  The site is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and will remain open until further notice.

Messagre from Hardin County United Way

Due to growing concerns about the COVI-19 virus and in light of the recent order for Ohioans to “stay home,” the Radio Day for United Way of Hardin County has been postponed with a tentative date of April 18.

"United Way is extremely grateful for the donors of auction items and  volunteers for this event and look forward to the fundraising event for a great cause," said Phyllis Griffith of the United Way.

Concerning meals, students' mental health, students' progress,

Here is the March 25 community update from Ada Schools.

Yesterday was the first day, I think, where the Governor’s press conference didn’t impose a change or tweak to what schools are doing. So, we didn’t do a community update.

But, today I wanted to share a few things that may be helpful. We are awaiting word, hopefully next week, as to whether this closure is to be extended (which I personally believe is likely), and thus we will begin to communicate our plans moving past April 3.

In the meantime, here are some items I hope are helpful:
