Ada loves parades and here’s your chance to be part of this year’s Farmers and Merchants Picnic parade on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Becky Neville is this year’s parade chair and Tami Waller is co-chair. They provided the Icon with the following parade details plus an entry form attached at the bottom of this story.
The parade forms in the parking lot on West Lincoln Street and will begin at 9:30 a.m. Parade line-up starts one hour prior to the parade start.
Parade rules are listed in the entry form. The parade will be cancelled if lightning and thunder occurs at the beginning of the parade.
The Tuesday, July 2, Ada council meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the depot on Main Street. The meeting is held there due to the renovation project in the municipal building.
Ada schools issues a statement on its Bulldog Facebook concerning the use of its facilities. The announcement follows:
Due to liability and insurance issues, facility usage (such as gyms, weight room, and athletic or other areas) is limited to preapproved activities.
Current student athletes may only use these facilities under the supervision of a current board-approved coach.
Students should never be unsupervised in any building or facility. Keys should only be in the possession of current employees and board approved coaches.
All others who may have a key should turn those in to the central office immediately.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that Ohio has received a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster declaration for flooding that occurred in Auglaize County on May 17, opening up the possibility of low-interest disaster loans for business owners, homeowners, and renters in Auglaize County and six adjacent counties.
"Earlier this week, I requested this disaster declaration in an effort to help those impacted by these floods," said Governor DeWine. "I'm pleased that those with uninsured damage can now apply for this assistance."
Attention Ada tennis players - the courts are calling.
Thanks to a community effort by a tennis courts resurfacing fundraiser that started last fall the courts' upgrade is now complete.
The renovation project cost $66,075 and funding is also very close to being completed.
The costs included $55,125 for an asphalt overlay and acrylic resurfacer, plus $10,950 to remove and replace fence fabric with tension wire.

$10,000 United States Tennis Association grant
$10,000 United States Tennis Association grant
Several little stories, when combined, make a larger story, showing that business movement. Here’s some of the items mentioned at last week’s Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting relating to business in the community:
Jamie Hall, village administrator, announced that midnight swims at the Ada Pool are offered on Tuesdays.
He added that the Municipal Building will have a workable elevator soon and remodeling is continuing on the inside of the building.
Jodi Goodman, Midwest Rehab, said that Midwest recently hired an occupational therapy assistant.
