MEDIA RELEASE__Ohio State University Extension in Hardin County will be holding a Master Gardener Volunteer training class in 2026. Classes will be taught using a hybrid model with in-person and online learning.

The time and location will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ohio State University Extension Office in Hardin County located at 1021 West Lima Street, Suite 103, Kenton, OH 43326.

The cost of the class is $150.00, which includes instruction, training manual, name tag, shirt, snacks, and drinks. The deadline to sign-up for the 2026 class is Monday, December 1, 2025.

OCT 14 MEDIA RELEASE__Martha Evans-Nau, Executive Director of the United Way of Hardin County, joined a distinguished panel of leaders at the inaugural 2025 Ohio United Way ALICE Policy Summit, a statewide event dedicated to addressing the growing economic challenges faced by Ohio's working families.

OCT 14 MEDIA RELEASE__An Election Day Lunch will be held at Lafayette Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St., Ohio, 45854 as a fundraiser. All proceeds will go directly to Deanna Looney, a 2007 graduate of Allen East and a single mother to 14-year-old Hayden. Deanna has been undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, and she will be having her first major surgery in mid-November. After that, she will undergo another 2 surgeries.

Deanna is very grateful to everyone, especially for their prayers. Thank you in advance.

FROM FACEBOOK__The Hardin County Safety Council meets on Thursday, October 16 at 8:00 a.m. in the small meeting room at the Kenton Golf Course. Dr. Shah, an OhioHealth Cardiologist will present a program on Heart Disease and Different Warning Signs for Men and Women.

FROM FACEBOOK__A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 23 for Vancrest of Kenton. The facility will be located on Wildcat Way near the new Kenton City Schools, and will accommodate 64 nursing home patients, 35 residents in assisted living, and 16 rehabilitation beds. The facility is planned to open in 2027.

OCT 7 MEDIA RELEASE__OhioHealth is excited to announce a significant $8.5 million renovation project for the operating suite at Hardin Memorial Hospital, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare access and quality for the Kenton community.

The renovation will feature cutting-edge surgical equipment and the modernization of two operating rooms. Additionally, the project will aesthetically enhance two other OR suites, one of which will serve as a future procedural room, while the other will function as sterile storage.
