Ohio Governor Mike DeWine joined Ohio Department of Commerce Director Sherry Maxfield and State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon on Aug. 16 to announce a Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign to raise awareness for Ohio's need for volunteer firefighters.

COLUMBUS __ In a little under a year, DriveOhio’s Rural Automated Driving Systems (ADS) project collected nearly 60 terabytes of data that will help define future technology needs for automated vehicles in rural environments. While automated driving systems have the potential to dramatically improve roadway safety, data shows that these systems must be refined to maximize that potential in rural areas.

An event memorializing loved ones who lost their lives due to a drug overdose will take place fro 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30 in Kenton's Courthouse Square, rain or shine.

The event, which will include chalk drawing, will help spread awareness of the growing concern about overdose deaths.

Refreshments, harm reduction supplies and personal hygiene products will be available. 

The event is hosted by Wings Support & Recovery, Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions, PASS and the Kenton-Hardin Health Department.

Upper Scioto Valley Local Schools has announced a change to its policy for serving meals to children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2024-2025 school year.

KENTON __ Among other activities, the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new offices of the Hardin Soil & Water Conservati at 950 W. Kohler Street on August 15.

The ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m., followed by an open house from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., Customer Appreciation Day from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Annual Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The August calendar for Wings Support & Recovery in Kenton includes making Lego flowers and mosaics.

The Kenton Branch at 111 E. Columbus has extended hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
