On November 3 at 9:30 a.m., the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center at 132 N. Main, Bluffton, will host a Veterans Administration representative who will be coming to discuss services and benefits that may be available to Veterans and their spouses.

OCT 24 MEDIA RELEASE__Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart is inviting all Hardin County residents to attend Coffee With the Sheriff, on Thursday, October 30, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Alger Social Center, 210 Main St., Alger.  

The informal gathering will provide Hardin County residents the opportunity to enjoy good coffee (courtesy of the Sheriff) and casual conversation with the Sheriff and members of his staff. 

Those attending are encouraged to ask questions concerning the Sheriff's Office and law enforcement efforts, voice concerns and offer their compliments. Residents may encourage friends and neighbors to attend with them.

OCT 23 MEDIA RELEASE__Kaylee Koyan of Kenton was welcomed as the first executive assistant for the Hardin County Community Foundation at its quarterly meeting Tuesday afternoon, October 21.

President Matt Jennings said, “Over the years, we’ve had paid, part-time officers in the foundation that were treasurer, assistant treasurer, secretary and assistant secretary. But as we’ve grown, we’ve come to the point where we need to consolidate all of those duties and functions into one role.

On October 23, WBGU-PBS premiered an episode of Scenic Stops & Stories featuring the Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Rd. The production took place during a Second Saturday event and includes interviews with board member Jason Althaus and docent Van Risser. The next event at the homestead will be the Christmas Open House on December 6-7.

Althaus provides an overview of the development of the historic site, including the new Heritage Center, which is a repurposed timber frame barn from a nearby farm. Risser demonstrates how the Schumacher family would have cooked using the fireplace in the summer kitchen. Using homegrown produce, he makes a one-pot stew or "Eintopf."

MEDIA RELEASE__Saturday, October 25 wraps up the 2025 season of Bluffton Cars & Coffee. The gathering of car, truck and motorcycle enthusiasts runs from 8:00-11:00 a.m. at 902 N. Main St. (a.k.a. Masterpiece Signs and Graphics).

Twisted Whisk Cafe will offer coffee and pastries at their new food truck, The Whisk on Wheels.

Door prizes are provided by local businesses and there is a 50/50 drawing.

2025 season finale of Bluffton Cars & Coffee on October 25

Reservoir Road in Bath Township is indefinitely closed from Roush Road to Fenway Drive for road repair due to a water line break. 

There will be no emergency access during the closure.
