Intersection scene of accident in January and two within the past month

ODOT is investigating the feasibility of installing an eastbound right turn lane from U.S. 30 onto Thayer Road as well as other alternatives to make the intersection safer.

Signage enhancements at the Thayer Road and U.S. 30 intersection northeast of Lima in Allen County will be made this week to provide additional information to motorists.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Allen County Engineer’s office met yesterday to discuss a recent trend of serious accidents at the intersection.

The first day of the 2019-20 Ada school year is Wednesday, Aug. 21. One of the most important questions asked is: what's for lunch.

In bloom this month in the railrod depot park

 How does your garden grow?

A garden in Ada this summer puts on a one-of-a-kind show this month. It’s in the historic Ada railroad depot park on Main Street.

Despite that it lacks silver bells, cockleshells and pretty maids all in a row, the blooms are inspiring. You'll find daylillies, rudbeckia, hydrangea, vinca, blue-eyed Mary, coneflowers, celosia, a red hibiscus and several unidentified beauties.

The blooms add to the attraction of picnic tables, restored Pennsylvania Railroad caboose, Civil War cannon and a restored passenger station.

Attached are 13 of the sample blooms you will see. (Thanks to Monty Siekerman for many of the flower idenifications)

Thanks for the Ada Lions Club, swimming at the Ada Municipal Pool is free during the F & M Picnic on Saturday, Aug 10.

The pool is open from 1 to 8 p.m. and the free swim is sponsored by the club.

Come star gazing with local Astronomy Club

The Hardin County Astronomy Club will have meteor and star gazing for the Perseid meteor shower on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight at the McGuffey village park on East South Street in McGuffey, according to David Humphreys of the club.

If cloudy or raining, the club will try again on Sunday, Aug. 11, at the same time.

There will be a couple of telescopes there for viewing the planets and other astronomical objects, and visitors are welcome to bring their own telescopes and binoculars.
