The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to be safe this Labor Day weekend. Troopers will focus enforcement efforts on removing impaired drivers from Ohio’s roadways.
The Labor Day weekend reporting period begins Friday, September 1 at 12 a.m. and ends Monday, September 4 at 11:59 p.m.
On August 30, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced 13 individuals who will serve on his newly formed Ohio School Bus Safety Working Group.
Governor DeWine announced the creation of the working group last week following the death of 11-year-old Aiden Clark, a Northwestern Local School District student who was killed when another vehicle collided with his school bus in Clark County.

Established in 2021 by Senate Bill 30, Ohio Overdose Awareness Day aims to raise public awareness and remember the lives lost to the ongoing national opioid epidemic. LIMA–The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, invites the public to a meeting regarding a proposed project to improve the safety of the State Road 81 and Thayer Road intersection in Lima, Allen County.
The meeting will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Union Chapel Missionary Church, 4869 Ada Road, Lima. Attendees need only attend one of the two sessions. The same information will be presented at each meeting.
The proposed project is evaluating the feasibility of improving the existing intersection by converting it into a roundabout, which is safer and more efficient than a traditional intersection. The SR 81 and Thayer Road intersection had 26 crashes between 2020 and 2022, and 35% resulted in injuries. Construction is tentatively scheduled for late 2025.
