JULY 25 MEDIA RELEASE__State Route 81 at Thayer Road, east of the city of Lima, will close August 4 for approximately 90 days for construction of a roundabout at the intersection, and for a bridge replacement between McClure Road and Fisher Road, over Patterson ditch.

SR 81 will be closed from just west of Thayer Road to Fisher Road.
Thayer Road will be closed from just south of SR81 to Sandusky Road.

JULY 22 MEDIA RELEASE__During the 2024-25 white-tailed deer archery hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Ryan Burke, assigned to Hancock County, received a report of a buck found dead in a field with an arrow in it. The caller stated that the individual claiming to have shot the deer had already harvested a buck. Officer Burke determined that the suspect had harvested two bucks, exceeding the statewide bag limit of one antlered deer. The individual pleaded guilty to taking more than one antlered deer in Hardin County Municipal Court, paid $500 in restitution and $150 in fines, and forfeited hunting privileges for one year.
JULY 21 MEDIA RELEASE__Governor DeWine has announced the full membership of his newly-formed Property Tax Reform Working Group. The working group, informally announced during the Governor’s signing of House Bill 96 and associated line-item vetoes, is tasked with thoroughly examining issues related to how to provide meaningful property tax relief to homeowners and businesses while ensuring that funding for local schools, fire, police, EMS, libraries, and developmental disabilities is adequate.

JULY 15 MEDIA RELEASE__Hardin County United Way’s Executive Director, Martha Evans-Nau, participated in a four-day conference in Washington, D.C. Nau was one of three speakers selected from across the country to discuss their involvement in policy and advocacy issues. Evans-Nau spoke on her participation in state and national advocacy initiatives.
“As an emerging United Way, it has been exciting to start participating in conversations that affect our county, and to be able to do so on a state and national level. I was surprised and honored to be asked to speak at the national event. Representing Ohio and Hardin County at this level was an amazing opportunity,” Evans-Nau stated.
