Family and friends were proud and happy Sunday afternoon when 61 Ada High School students received their diplomas in the school gym. Nine of them completed their studies at Apollo Career Center.
Soon-to-be-graduates processed into the gym while the high school band played "Fanfare and Processional."
History teacher Mike Styer gave the commencement address.

In the blink of an eye, Ada 6th graders mulched the Railroad Park gardens on Thursday afternoon.
With the help of teachers and several village employees, the 75 students applied a mountain of mulch to all of the beds and planted some annuals.

This is a tradition that has been going on, toward the end of the school year, for 20 years. The assistance of the school kids saves a lot of labor and, hopefully, gives then an appreciation for the park, its Depot, and the newly-refurbished caboose.

One fine morning this week found Mr. and Mrs. Mallard resting in a front yard on West North Avenue.
The couple apparently approved of the recently mulched area of birch trees and hosta plants, which leads me into a "commercial" for the Ada Lions Club mulch sale.
Most Saturdays in May have been rainy, putting a damper in the service club's main project of raising money for scholarships for graduating Ada High School students. Thus, the club is extending its sale into June so gardeners can order more mulch and the club can earn more money for scholarships.
The Ada Lions Club elected officers on Wednesday evening during a dinner meeting at the Center on Central.
From left are Bernie Mackey, president; Paul Fletcher, vp; Jason Hoschak, vp; Bob Simmons, vp; Jerry Dearth, treasurer; Rob Kanzig, secretary; Ronnie Cheney, lion tamer.
The club voted to continue selling mulch past Memorial Day since most Saturdays in May have been rainy. To order mulch call 419-634-5626.
