Owners of Easter House Bed and Breakfast, Ada, are winners of the Emerging Business Division of this year's Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs business plan competition, according to Brendon Matthews, BCE board president.

Owners Amy Eddings and Mark Hilan of Easter House, 508 N. Main St., Ada, will receive $4,000 over the next 18 months in business start-up assistance from BCE. 

Cash awards of $6,000 were awarded this year. Prize money and gifts-in-kind went to five competitors. Winners were announced at BCE’s business expo at The Centre, Bluffton, in late March.

The April Ada CIC meeting is cancelled, according to Ada village officials. The meeting was set for Wednesday, April 20.

The original purpose of the meeting was to take action regarding a Port Authority financing program. That action is now not required.

The next Community Improvement Corp. meeting is at noon, Wednesday, May 18.

GIRLS VARISTY SOCCER PLAYERS pick up a registration form for the ONU Soccer Camp from Coach Hunt. The completed form and $25 fee is due on April 27.

Seniors: We need your senior picture and baby pictures of everyone for a slide show if you want your pictures to be a part of the slide show. One of two Ada water towers - the one with Wilson's logo - will be repaired and repainted  this summer.

Council approved a bid of $208,000 from LC United Painting of Sterling Heights, Mich., to do the work.

Wilson's will pay the cost of having their lettering on the 100,000-gallon tank tower, as before.

How many children can pet a puppy at one time? The answer: lots.

Thursday was Treat Day at the Ada Schools. The visit of five puppies to the second grade classes was a treat for the kids...and the children gave treats to the puppies.

The handlers, all ONU students, visited the second graders in their classrooms. The children learned about dogs in general, how they are trained to be service dogs, and asked questions about canines.

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents The Broadway Boys on Saturday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Freed Center’s Biggs Theatre.
