Here's the latest calendar items from the Ada school website.
Oct. 23 – Composite pictures at 7 a.m. and 7 - 12 pictures at 8:45 a.m. in Band Room Oct. 23 – Cap and gown presentation at Apollo at 7:30 a..m. Oct. 28 – 2-hour early dismissal for Teacher-In-Service Oct. 31 – Cap and gown orders will be taken at Apollo 7:30 a.m.
A reminder for students who walk home: Walkers are not permitted to leave through the front entrances of the building. All walkers must exit through the south doors or at the end of the high school hallway.
The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance and the Buy Ada First Committee will host the 25 Days of Christmas Buy Local Contest Nov. 24 to Dec. 18. We are currently seeking businesses to partner with on this initiative to encourage people to shop local this Holiday season.
Any Hardin County business may participate. Businesses would need to display the Buy Local First Hardin County sign and donate a $25 gift certificate. This event will be promoted through local media, on our website and Facebook pages.
Since running his first marathon in 2009, David Dellifield has had a goal of running the TCS New York City marathon. When he received his guaranteed entry into the 2014 NYC Marathon through the race's lottery, he launched Send Cancer on a Run 2: All the way to the Big Apple.
The 28th annual Christmas Around the Square Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8 in the Hardin County Historic Courthouse in downtown Kenton.
Sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, the craft fair features arts, crafts, and home party dealers. The Harco Choir will perform holiday music at 9:30 a.m.and Dance Fuzion will perform on the west side of the courthouse at 10 a.m. Food is provided by the Hardin County Homemakers.
The annual basket auction begins at 11 a.m. in Veteran’s Hall. The auction features 30 baskets filled with gift items.
During the month of September, Hardin County Extension volunteer rainfall reporters received an average of 2.08 inches of rain.The most rain for this month, 3.58 inches, fell in Liberty Township, as measured by Phil Epley.
The least rain reported during the month, 1.05 inches, was reported in Taylor Creek Township by Silver Creek Supply. During the same month last year, an average of 3.23 inches of rain fell. The rainfall recorded in September over the past 10 years averaged 3.70 inches.
Halloween is on lots of Ada calendars this month. There are several opportunities for young and old interested in dressing up for this year’s events. Here’s the local schedule:
Tuesday, Oct. 21 – Ohio Northern University’s annual trick or treat night. From 5 to 7 p.m. events take place in McIntosh Activities Room. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m.
Children of all ages are encouraged to dress up and join the fun with ONU students. Children must be accompanied by an adult to attend.
