Go head. Guess how many inches of rain fell in August in the Ada area. Guess again.

According to Guy Verhoff, area weather observer, 6.35 inches of rain fell on the Ada-Bluffton area in August. That's twice the normal August precipitation, which is 3.43 inches.

Rain was recorded on 10 days in August, and it all fell between the 4th and the 27th. The most rain was 1.54 inches on Aug. 10.

Other than rain, August was pretty normal. The average August 2012 daily temperature was 70.9 degrees. The normal average August daily temperature is 70.5 degrees.

The high temperature of the month was 92 on Aug. 3; the low was 51 on the 20th.

September is a busy month in Ada and Hardin County. Here's the weekly update from the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

County Fair calendar -

• Hancock County Fair – Findlay – Aug. 29 to Sept. 3
• Hardin County Fair – Kenton – Sept. 4 to Sept. 9
• Wyandot County Fair – Upper Sandusky – Sept. 11 to Sept. 16

The Blanchard Valley Hospital Laboratory, Findlay, has received College of American Pathologists (CAP) 15189 SM accreditation to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This is the second accreditation the lab has received. Accreditation is valid for three years.

In 2009, the Blanchard Valley Hospital Laboratory was named the third laboratory in the United States to receive the CAP 15189 SM Accreditation. The lab is the second lab in the nation to earn re-accreditation.

The Bulldog Nation Superfan 5K and Fun Run is set for Sunday, Sept. 16, in the Ada War Memorial Park.

The run begins at 6:15 p.m. and the fun run at 7:30 p.m. Registration is in the band shell from 5 to 6 p.m. A 50/50 raffle and a coach purse raffle takes place at 8 p.m. The 5K is open to ages 7 and older. The fun run is open to runners ages 4 to 12.

The course goes through the Ada Park and will end with a lap around the track in War Memorial Stadium. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate in the 5K. Water stations are at miles 1, 2 and at the finish. 

Also planned is a kids’ fun run, which is one lap around the track at 8 p.m.
