KENTON --The Ada summer swim team finished seventh at the two-day, eight-team Western Ohio Aquatic League championship meet Saturday, July 8, in Kenton.

The Alligator boys finished sixth, while the Ada girls came in seventh after 82 completed events.

FINDLAY--The Northwest Ohio Lady Buckeyes 16U softball travel team took second place during a tournament at Marathon Fields in Findlay last weekend. 

NWO went 4-1 in the tourney and lost in the finals to a team from Cleveland, 5-1.

The NWO squad consists of area players from Hardin Northern, Elida, Liberty-Benton, Carey, McComb, Shawnee, Riverside and Leipsic.

The Ada summer swim team stands seventh in the eight-team West Ohio Aquatic League championship meet after day one of competition at Kenton.

Dominating Bluffton leads the overall standings, as well as the boys and girls standings. 

The Alligator boys are sixth, while the Ada girls sit seventh after the first day of 40 completed events. Forty-two events remain to be contested Saturday.

Ada’s Kyleigh Nau won the 25 freestyle for the 7-8 girls age group. She also took second in another individual race.

Landry Harriger captured three second-place finishes in the boys 9-10 division.

Gator Olivia Agozzino touched third in three individual events in the girls 11-12 bracket.

More than 500 swimmers competed on day one of the 41st annual Elks Invitational meet championships. The meet is for swimmers aged 5-18 who are members of a league team. 

The Ada  Gators will swim their last event for the summer of 2023 at the 40th annual Elks Invitational Swim Meet and WOAL League Championship in Kenton on July 7-8. Of the 90 swimmers on the Sardines team, 46 will be competing at Champs.

The Ada Gators summer swim team convincingly defeated visiting Van Wert in the final Western Ohio Aquatic League meet of the regular season Thursday night, June 29, at the municipal pool.

The Gators won the overall boys/girls combined meet over the VW Marlins YMCA team, 420-196.

The Ada boys easily captured their dual meet over the Marlins by a 222-76 score. Meanwhile the Gator girls won a closer dual, 198-120.

Gator Luke Harriger captured first place in five individual events in the 7-8 age bracket to pace the victors.

Landry Harriger also touched first in five individual races of the boys 9-10 bracket. 

Gator girl Olivia Agozzino (11-12) ended up first in four races to lead the Gator girls. Isaac Agozzino finished first in two events in the boys 11-12 bracket.

Adaite Kyleigh Nau also took first in four events in the girls eight and under division. Her older sister Alyssa Nau (13-14) won two races.

Ohio Northern junior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) was named to the 2022-23 NCAA Division III Women's Academic All-America At-Large Second Team by College Sports Communicators.

The honor comes after Honigford earned Academic All-District honors from CSC in May. She is one of 45 NCAA Division III student-athletes divided among First, Second and Third teams. The mechanical engineering major is one of 22 Division III honorees to boast a 4.0 GPA.
