Ohio Northern junior Cameron Marous (Brecksville) was named Third Team Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large in men's lacrosse for 2019 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Marous becomes the first ONU men's lacrosse player to earn Academic All-America honors.

This season, he led the Polar Bear offense with 34 goals, 21 assists, 55 points, and 92 shots as an attacker. The junior also chipped in 25 ground balls and six caused turnovers during the campaign.

Ohio Northern University football players will play with more confidence this fall knowing that the finest football helmet on the market is protecting them.

Thanks to a generous gift to the Polar Bear Club from the Walt and Teri Bettinger Foundation, every player on the Polar Bear roster will have the opportunity to wear a new state-of-the-art VICIS Zero1 football helmet.

It is the top-rated helmet by the National Football League Players Association for three years running.

ADA - The Ada swim team fell to visiting Hardin County and West Ohio Aquatic League rival Kenton on a very steamy Thursday evening in the final dual meet of the summer season.

Kenton defeated Ada 449-366 in the combined boys/girls meet score. The Stingrays won the girls meet 259-182, while the Alligator boys narrowly lost to the visitors by a 190-184 count.

The Gators ended up the summer dual meet season with a 2-4 record.  

The Ohio Northern women's basketball program will kick off its 2019-20 campaign under 19th-year head coach Michele Durand on Tuesday, November 12 with a road contest against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Anderson (Ind.) at 7 p.m.

Following their season opener, the Polar Bears will make a northwestern trek to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the 2019 Wisconsin Lutheran Tournament on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23. ONU is scheduled to face off against the tournament host on Friday evening before battling Wisconsin-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon.

LIMA - The visiting Ada Alligator summer swim team defeated WOAL foe Sherwood in a close meet on a warm Monday evening.

Ada won the combined meet team score, 186-154.

The Alligator combined dual meet record improved to 2-2 after the tight win.

ADA - The Ada swim team lost an extremely close meet to visiting West Ohio Aquatic League rival Wapakoneta in a makeup meet on a hot Wednesday evening.

Wapak edged Ada 359-356 in the combined meet score. Ada won the girls meet 189-184, while the Waves nipped the Alligator boys 175-167.

The Gators (2-3) host county foe Kenton Thursday at 6 p.m. in their regular season dual meet finale.
