Both ONU men’s and women’s basketball teams lost to Mt. Union on Saturday. The men’s game follows and the women’s game is below the men’s.

Ohio Northern got 28 points, nine rebounds and four assists from senior All-American center Ryan Bruns(Chickasaw/Marion Local), but the ONU men's basketball team fell 79-71 at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Polar Bears fall to 4-15 overall and 0-12 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Purple Raiders improve to 15-4, 9-3.

Here’s an early weekend summary of ONU wrestling, men’s track and women’s track results as of Friday night:

Wrestling

No. 11-ranked senior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) posted a 4-1 record at 174 pounds to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team on the first day of the Pete Willson-Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational on Friday at King Arena.

The Polar Bears are 26th of 38 teams, 11 of which are ranked in the NCAA Division III top 25, with 17 points.

Davidson had a pin and three decisions and has reached the fourth round of the consolation bracket.

Klava Katayama at league championship swim meet

NORTH ROBINSON - The Ada swimmers posted several personal-bests at the North Central Ohio Swimming League championship meet hosted by Colonel Crawford Saturday.

Ada junior standout Klava Katayama captured first in the 50 freestyle and 100-yard butterfly races. She set league meet records in each event and scored 32 of the 82 Lady Bulldog points.

"Klava won both of her events and broke the (league) records for both as well," noted Ada head coach Stephanie Steiner. "We had more personal-records from Melina (Temple) and Bella (East) in both of their events at the meet as well."

MARION - The Ada varsity wrestling team competed at the two-day, Sally George Invitational meet hosted by Marion Pleasant Friday and Saturday.
Ada finished 20th out of 21 teams with 10 points. London won the team title with 195 points, followed in second by Liberty Center with 150 points.
Ada sophomore Colton Biederman finished 1-2 in the 113 lb. division, as did Bulldog junior Reece Evans at 160 lbs.

Frazier led Ada with 17 points and 8 rebounds

ADA - Visiting Kenton ended a tight game on a 9-2 run to edge feisty Ada 58-52 in a hard-fought Hardin County boys' basketball battle Saturday night.

Kenton senior Jaron Sharp converted 15 of 17 free throws, including five of six in the final minute, en route to a game-high 28 points. The Wildcats outscored Ada 22 to six from the foul line to provide the difference.

The purple and gold fell to 2-13 with the tough-luck defeat, while the Wildcats improved to 10-4 with the non-conference victory.

ADA - Paulding trailed upset-minded Ada 31-23 early in the third quarter during their Northwest Conference boys' basketball contest Friday night before their offense flipped the switch.

The visiting Panthers then ripped off a 12-0 spurt to take the lead for good. Paulding outscored Ada 43-18 over a 13-minute closing stretch of the second half to turn a close game into a deceptive 66-52 victory.

The purple and gold fell to 2-12 and 1-3 in the NWC with the defeat, while the Panthers improved to 5-7 and 3-2 in league play with the victory.
