McCOMB - The host McComb baseball team erupted for six runs in a wild first inning and held on for a 9-6 win over Ada Tuesday evening.
Ada fell to 3-3 with the non-league defeat.
The Bulldogs raced to an early lead by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. But the Panthers responded by tallying six times in the home half of the first.
The Panthers then tacked on single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead to 9-3.
Ada rallied to plate three runs and halve the deficit in their last at bat in the top of the seventh, but the lead was too much to overcome.

ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team scored 20 runs and pounded out 27 hits in a 7-0, 13-6 sweep of Wilmington on Tuesday afternoon at the ONU Softball Field.
The Polar Bears (9-9 overall, 3-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) also got a 4-hit shutout in Game 1 and a 3-inning save in Game 2 from senior Kaitlin Surdej (Lancaster, N.Y./Central). Surdej finished the day with 10 innings of shutout ball with only six hits allowed in the circle.

ADA - The host Ada softball team plated nine first inning runs and cruised to a 13-1 blowout of Cory-Rawson in non-conference play on a rainy but warm Thursday evening.
The purple and gold improved to 2-1 with the lopsided win.
"Leona Dalton pitched a good game," said Ada head coach Rebecca Dicke. "All of her pitches were working well. We were able to get a lot of young players important playing experience. They have to develop confidence and be aggressive."

ADA - The host Ada baseball team broke a fifth inning tie on a wild pitch and held on to defeat Cory-Rawson 2-1 in non-league action Thursday evening.
Ada improved to 3-2 with the non-league victory, while the Hornets fell to 1-2 with the loss.
With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Zac Swaney doubled to right-center field. He advanced to third base on a groundout. After a strikeout, Swaney scampered home on a two-out, two-strike wild pitch to put the Bulldogs in front.
Junior Andrew Shelton (Williamsville, N.Y./South), sophomore Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery), and the 4x400-meter relay squad each claimed event titles Saturday at McConagha Stadium, leading the Ohio Northern men's track and field program to a runner-up finish at the Muskingum Invitational in New Concord.
