VAN BUREN - The Ada girls soccer team lost a road match to Van Buren Wednesday evening, 6-0.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-6 with the defeat.
VB scored two quick goals late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead to intermission. The Black Knights then added four goals in half two, some in the final minutes, to win going away.
"We faced a very tough Van Buren team, but we played them very even for the first 35 minutes of the match," said Ada head coach Doug Poling.
"They put us more on the defensive in the second half," he continued. "We were able to keep them from getting a lot of shots off, but they managed to score."
GAMBIER — The Ohio Northern volleyball team, ranked 15 nationally, used a balanced offensive attack to sweep Kenyon 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 on Wednesday night at Tomisch Arena.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-3 on the season, while the Ladies fall to 9-3.
Junior Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) had a team-high 12 kills, while junior Sydney Bapst(Grove City) and freshman Madi Ellis (Delphos/St. John's) had nine kills each to lead ONU.
BLUFFTON - Ada junior Ethan Hull continued his strong play by finishing first in a regular-season ending Northwest Conference tri-match Tuesday evening at the Bluffton Golf Course.
Hull fired a career-best 41 to lead all golfers in the 18-player field.
Paulding won the event with 175 strokes, followed by Bluffton (182) and Ada, which shot a solid 196.
Bulldog senior Austin Amburgey also posted a career-low round of 48.
Sophomore Brevin Sizemore carded a 51 while senior Rob Allison registered a 56.
Freshman Kamron Wilkerson posted a 65 and senior Jake Colwell added a score of 71.
DELPHOS - The visiting Ada volleyball team cruised to a straight-set win over Delphos Jefferson Tuesday night in a Northwest Conference battle.
The first-place Lady Bulldog spikers improved to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in the NWC with the 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 victory. It was their 19th straight win in league play over the past three seasons.
The Wildcats fell to 3-8 overall and 0-2 with the defeat.
Sophomore middle Megan Light knocked down 10 kills to help pace the offense.
