The Ohio Northern women's golf team saw three members earn Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in 2017.
Seniors Jennifer Hipskind (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger) and Ariana Tomasula (Rocky River/Lutheran West) and sophomore Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) all earned the honor.
Hipskind, a pharmacy major, earned her third career Academic All-OAC honor.
The senior ranks sixth on the team, averaging 92.8 strokes per round.
Hipskind is also a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar.
Tomasula, an accounting major, was named Academic All-OAC for the second time in her career.
Juniors Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) and Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) and head coach Jason Maus have all earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional honors.
Richards won her second consecutive honor as the Great Lakes Region Female Track Athlete of the Year after claiming the same honor during the 2017 indoor season.
She currently owns the fastest time nationally in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs and ranks in the top-5 nationally in the 400-meter dash.
The junior will compete at the national meet in the 800-meter run and in the 1,500-meter run.
Ada High School athlete Zach Beaschler qualified for state tennis competition by placing second on Saturday at the district semifinals at Bowling Green State University.
At the district, Beaschler defeated Shawnee's Jackson Schafer before losing to Tyler Gargas of Ottawa Hills.
The state tournament will be held Friday at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason.
Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a women’s tennis tournament on Saturday, June 17.
The tournament takes place in Bluffton at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue, across from Harmon Field.
The tournament has the following divisions:
High School - doubles division: Championship and B (pro set)
High School - singles division: A and B
Adult – doubles division: Championship (pro set)
Entry fee is $25 for first entry and $15 for second. Entry deadline is Monday, June 12.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team concluded its regular season this week as it competed at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College in Naperville, Ill.

Senior Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencerville) led the Polar Bears on day one of the meet as he claimed first place in the hammer throw with a toss of 179' 4".
Junior Alexander Sibila (Zionsville, Ind.) competed in the high jump for the Polar Bears, where he finished 13th overall, clearing 6' 1.5".
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Sophomore Maddy Reed (Lucasville/Piketon) and junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) led the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team as it wrapped its regular season up at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College.

Reed led the way on day one for the Polar Bears as she claimed the pole vault title and broke her own school record with a leap of 13' 0.75".
The sophomore improved her national mark and solidified her spot with the second highest vault nationally.
