Ada senior middle Melina Woods added to her awards when she was recently voted Division IV District 8 Volleyball Player of the Year.
Woods led Ada to its third straight Northwest Conference title and then won her third NWC volleyball Player of the Year award. She has led the Lady Bulldogs into the district semifinals with a 16-7 record.

Behind Woods, Ada clinched its second straight outright and undefeated (8-0) title this season and third consecutive championship overall, including a shared NWC crown in 2015.

The Ada boys soccer team lost 3-0 at Mansfield Christian in Div. III sectional second round play Saturday evening to be eliminated from the tournament.
The sixth-seeded Bulldogs end their season 12-6, their best record in years.
Second seed MC advances to the district semifinals in Tiffin, Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Columbian High School vs. fourth seed Woodmore starting at 7 p.m.
OTTAWA - Ada sophomore Abbie James finished a team-best 26th in the Div. III district cross country meet at Ottawa Park Saturday.
James covered the 3.1-mile course in 22:06.2 to post the top Ada girls finish amid the 73-runner field.
The Lady Bulldog squad finished ninth at the district meet. Minster easily out-distanced the field with 19 points to win the district crown, while Coldwater was a distant second with 80. Ada totaled 226 points.
Sophomore Emma Watcke of Minster won the girls individual race in 18:55.9. Four of the top five female finishers came from Minster.

Ada jumped out to an early 20-0 lead last Friday night and never looked back, defeating the visiting Bluffton Pirates 42-17. Senior quarterback Seth Conley lit up the night sky, tossing for 450 yards and five touchdowns in the Northwest Conference victory. The win moves the Bulldogs to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the NWC.
The Bulldogs opened the game with a scoring drive, as Conley hit senior Chase Sumner for a 25-yard score, the first of the duo’s three touchdown connections. Senior Aaron Everhart’s extra point kick was good, putting Ada ahead 7-0 with 8:55 left in the first quarter.
Ohio Northern overcame five turnovers and a missed 22-yard field goal with 24 seconds left to defeat Muskingum 7-6 in an Ohio Athletic Conference football game at McConagha Stadium on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (5-2 overall, 4-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) were led by sophomore running back Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna), who ran 38 times for 168 yards and ONU's only touchdown.
Muskingum (2-5, 1-5/1-6, 0-6) got 172 yards passing and a touchdown by quarterback Brody Hahn.
ONU junior Will Freed (Carlsbad, Calif./San Marcos) completed 16-of-28 passes for 188 yards for ONU.
NEW CONCORD — Senior Cory Lains (Zionsville, Ind.) scored twice to lead the Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 7-1 victory at Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at the North Turf Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 11-5-1 overall and are 4-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Muskies fall to 2-13-1, 0-7.
