Human trafficking topic of Feb. 5 presentation

Debbie Kelsey, an International Ministries missionary, will present "A European Country's Human Trafficking Problem and Solutions" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Ohio Northern University's Dicke Forum Room, located in the James Dicke Hall. 

The presentation will be followed with a question and answer period.  This presentation is open to the public and is free, according to Jack Duffy, pastor of First Baptist Church, Ada.

Ada First United Methodist Church set to rebuild on historic site

Ada First United Methodist Church's congregation has decided to rebuild on its historic site in downtown Ada at the corner of North Main and Highland streets. 

The congregation has worshipped in Ada for more than 150 years, but lost its 113-year-old landmark church to a devastating fire in March 2012. The church has taken this time to reflect on and examine its mission and goals for the future.

English Chapel bell will ring 26 times on Friday - in solidarity with churches in Connecticut

The West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church has requested that all churches within the conference ring their bells 26 times at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, in memory of the victims who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. last Friday. 

This will be happening in solidarity with the churches of Connecticut, which will all be ringing their bells at that same time. 

The English Chapel at ONU will be participating in this observance.

Community dinner at St. Mark Lutheran on Nov. 28

St. Mark Lutheran Church will hold a community dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 28. This week's menu is spaghetti. We plan to have this dinner the last Wednesday of each month. All are welcome. 

Jacob Reel presents Christmas concert Dec. 9 at Ada Church of Christ (Disciples)

The Ada Church of Christ (Disciples) 316 S. Main St., Ada, is hosting a free Christmas concert with Gospel singer Jacob Reel from Upper Sandusky.

The concert is at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at the church. Reel will be featuring songs from his Christmas CD,"Snowflakes and Angels."

A free-will offering will be taken. A candle lighting "Silent Night will end the service and a special song and gifts for the youth.

The concert is open to the public.

St. Mark Lutheran hosts community supper on Nov. 28.

On Nov. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., St. Mark Lutheran Church will host a community supper for all who desire a meal.

We plan to do continue this ministry on the last Wednesday evening of every month to assist those people and families who are short of funds for meals at the end of the month.
