Hardin Crime Task Force makes three arrests

Each is drug-related

The Hardin County Crime Task Force made two arrests arising from two traffic stops on March 13. The Task Force also made one arrest on March 18. Details of those arrests follow:

The first stop was in the 4000 block of County Road 60. It resulted in the arrest of a woman found to be in possession of 39 hits of heroin.

She has been charged with possession of heroin and trafficking in heroin.

The second stop occurred near the intersection of State Route 67 and County Road 75. There a man was arrested for the possession of and trafficking in Fentanyl. More than 8 grams of Fentanyl were confiscated.

ONU program raises service dogs

Earlier this week Dominick Sara and Carah Porter from Ohio Northern University updated Ada Kiwanis members best about the 4 Paws for Ability program involving ONU student training service dogs

Founded in 2014, Polar Paws is an Ohio Northern University student organization that raises service dogs through 4 Paws for Ability in Xenia, Ohio.

The active campus of Ohio Northern offers a wide variety of events and social situations for dogs to experience and is the key to a service dog in training's development and socialization.

Max Weese scores 100th goal

First ONU men’s lacrosse play to achieve this

Senior Max Weese (Hilliard/Darby) became the first Ohio Northern men's lacrosse player to score 100 career goals, leading ONU to a 15-8 victory over Wittenberg on Tuesday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears end their non-conference schedule with a solid 6-1 record, while the Tigers fall to 1-5.

Weese scored twice in the first 11:11 of the game to reach the 100-goal plateau in 50 career games.

Senior Anthony Pavone (Bainbridge/Kenston) picked up his seventh career hat trick with a team-high three goals for ONU.

Feb. 19, 1939 – warmest temperature for that date since 1883

March 1, 1939, The Ada Herald - the temperature dropped below zero for the first time in the winter of 1939. Four days earlier it had registered 65, the warmest Feb. 19 since 1883. Wild geese were seen flying north.

Feb. 28, 1959  - the Grovettes from Sugar Grove United Methodist Church performed at the American Legion Midwinter Conference of Units at Columbus, Ohio.

McDonald’s Bulldog Business of the month

Ada McDonald’s Restaurant is the Ada school Bulldog Business of the month for March. Dan Lee, Ada High School principal, made the presentation to Tina Perrine, McDonald’s manager, earlier this week.

Chambr after-hours

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce members met in an after-hours mix and mingle on March 20 at The Inn at ONU. Jim Boedicker, local musician, entertained with background music. Several door prizes were drawn, provided by Liberty National Bank, Quest Federal Credit Union and US Bank. The Ada Icon, celebrating its 7th year in existence in March, sponsored the event.
