It's Flag Day - where are some facts about the day
Sunday, June 14, is Flag Day. Here are some facts about the day:
• it is observed the same day each year, June 14.
• it is not a national holiday.
• it is a time to reflect on our freedoms, reaffirm our belief in liberty, justice, and our nation's unity.
• the flag was adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
• the stars represent each state, the 13 stripes the colonies.
• President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first Flag Day in1916.
• Flag Day became official by an Act of Congress in 1949.
• can you name Flag City (hint...it lies a half hour northeast of Ada).
• several other countries have their own Flag Day.
