The Music Man is quite a treat
By Monty Siekerman
Alan Seibert knows how to woo a crowd. Known as The Music Man, he had the residents of Ada Vancrest singing and clapping along to his guitar playing on Tuesday afternoon.
A large group of the residents was on hand to enjoy his performance. He also plays piano, harmonica, and drums, but the Ada senior citizens seem to like his singing and guitar playing, so that's what he sticks to when he is in Ada. Because of his popularity, he is invited to the retirement facility every two months to entertain.
The Grover Hill man is busy. He performs about three times a day at churches, country clubs, festivals, and elsewhere. He has made his living by performing full time for the past 10 years.
Just prior to beginning his Vancrest gig, Mrs. Colleen Schick gave him a poem she wrote after hearing him sing and play several times in Ada. It reads:
The Music Man is quite a treat
His songs accompany his tapping feet
In fact, he never misses a beat
His guitar plays a lively tune
Perhaps he may wear out soon
We sing along both loud and long
He always asks for our favorite song
Anytime you want some fun
Ask for him
You'll have some a ton!!!
Mrs. Schick began writing poetry only recently, proving that you are never too old to learn and do new things.
