Keeping roads safe
To keep Hardin County roads as safe as possible, ODOT reports they have driven twice as many miles this year compared to last year, which is no surprise considering how cold and snowy it has been this year. However, the amount of de-icer used this year is less because de-icer isn’t very effective at extremely low temperatures.
57 more tons of salt has been spread this year. That’s 114,000 pounds more.
Hardin County has 323 lane miles, which just about gets you from Ada to the Kentucky/Tennessee border.
