Winner-take-all softball game set
NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The NCAA III Softball Notre Dame, Indiana Regional Tournament will be extended to a seventh game after Case Western Reserve topped Ohio Northern 5-0 in Game 6 on Sunday afternoon at the Purcell Athletic Fields.
The Polar Bears (32-10 overall) and the Spartans (34-9 overall) will play a winner-take-all Game 7 at approximately 4:30 pm as both teams now have one loss in the double-elimination tournament.
That winner will advance to the Super Regional round to face either Calvin (Mich.) or No. 17-ranked Hope (Mich.) in a best-of-3 series next weekend.
Case took control of the game with three runs in the top of the first frame and another in the second to make it 4-0.
ONU threatened in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with two out, but could not get a run across.
