Engineering marvel on Main
Spider webs are more apparent this time of year, especially on a moist, foggy morning. The boxwood at Liberty National Bank showed the handiwork of spiders building their traps to catch a meal. Spiders are beneficial because they feed on insects that are pests. Cobwebs are intricate marvels of engineering, beautiful and strong. Halloween is about a month away, but by then a cold freeze will have either killed the arachnids or forced then into hibernation mode. Ada residents will need to buy “webs” at stores to decorate their bushes for Halloween because the real thing won’t be around by the holiday. (Monty Siekerman photo)
