Ada Band and Color Guard successful at Maumee

After a rain delay, the Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard took the field earning first place in Class C Saturday, Oct. 6 at the OMEA “Music in Motion” competition at Maumee High School.  

The group earned Overall Best Visual Effect and Best Auxiliary regardless of school size. In addition, the  group earned honors for Best Color Guard, Best General Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Visual Effect in Class C.

Color guard members include Olivia Heister, Samantha Crawford, Kaylee Huffer, Madison Wright, Leona Dalton, Olivia Green, Tessa Long and Paige Seitz.  Amy Webb serves as the Color Guard director.

This year’s competition show entitled “Galactic Journey” includes band and guard members marching and spinning among the planets in the solar system.  The performance includes music from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” as well as original compositions by Dr. Jonathan Lischak, director.

The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard will compete Saturday, Oct. 20 at Tri-Valley High School in Dresden.
