Ada council hires new patrol officer
Ada council approved the hiring a new patrol officer and a construction-maintenance employee on Nov. 5, in addition to several other actions.
Among council action includes the following:
• Hired Victoria Sturgill as a full-time police officer effective Jan. 2, 2020. Her hiring is a result of a vacancy on the department with the resignation of Sgt. Purdy. Sturgill will serve a one-year probation period at $17.70 per hour. She recently graduated from Rhodes State College with an associate’s degree in law enforcement. She is also a graduate of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
• Moved Courtland Fowler, police officer, from her one-year probation period and offered her full-time employment with the department. Her pay is adjusted from $17.30 per hour to $17.80 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2020.
• Extended the residency requirement for Det. George Schlub in the police department. Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger told council that Schlub intends to eventually relocate to Ada.
• Waived a requirement that Patty Navin, its new fiscal officer, live within the Ada village limits.
• Hired Adam Jordan as a construction and maintenance worker I with an hourly starting wage of $12.95 and benefits. He is on a six-month probation and is expected to start work on Nov. 11.
