Ada Legion sponsors 4 delegates to Girls State
One Ada junior and three juniors from Hardin Northern are local delegates to Buckeye Girls State thanks to sponsorship of the Ada American Legion Post. Each of the delegates will be seniors in the fall.
Foss-Agin-Meyer Post 185 will sponsor the following girls:
• Paige Jochims – Ada HS
• Kennedy Hall – Hardin Northern
• Jadi Herrod-Gonzalez – Hardin Northern
• Madison Wilch – Hardin Northern
Buckeye Girls State runs from June 13-19 at the University of Mount Union in Alliance. Buckeye Girls State gives each student a chance to learn how government is run by setting up a mock state, county, and city government, and then running it for the week. In addition to this they will have an opportunity to meet high ranking state officials. They also have opportunities for scholarships.
Each year the Ada American Legion sponsors young men and women from Ada, Hardin Northern, and Upper Scioto Valley Schools to Buckeye Girls State and Buckeye Boys State.
Each applicant is recommended by their school and then is interviewed by the American Legion. It is considered an honor to be selected. This year, no students applied for Buckeye Boys State.
