Bulldog girls upset Coldwater kickers

The Ada High School girls soccer team rallied from a halftime deficit to upset homestanding Coldwater 4-3 in a non-league match Monday night, August 22.
The Bulldog girls trailed 2-1 at intermission, yet came back on the strength of a three-goal second half to win.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-0 with the victory. Ada has outscored its opposition 17-4 thus far this season.
Junior standout Ella Marshall netted the eventual winning goal with 13 minutes left to clinch the victory.
"This was a massive win for the program," said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. "Last year Ada lost 7-0 with the game called at halftime due to weather.
"While Coldwater lost some seniors and their top scorer, they are still well-coached and fundamentally sound," he continued. "To play at this level and come away with a very gutsy win says volumes about what this team could do when they put the effort in.
"I can't point out one single girl who had a great game, because every player on the field dumped out 110 percent - it was very much a team win," he noted.
Junior ace Olivia Burkhart paced the offense with two goals. Sophomore Lexi Poling and Marsall added the other scores.
Junior Katie Sizemore made 26 saves in goal.
"We still have a lot to work on, but this was great for the girls to continue to gain confidence," Dewese noted.
Ada (1-0 home) hosts backyard rival Allen East Monday, August 29 at 7 p.m. in the Northwest Conference opener.
