LIMA__The Ada High School boys tennis team lost its weather-delayed season opener 4-1 at Lima Central Catholic Thursday, March 28.
“It was a good match to start with,” said new head coach Morgan Bass. “They all played hard.”
Junior southpaw Nathan Williams posted the lone Bulldog win in straight sets at first singles.
“Nathan was using his strengths and got in his opponent’s head and frustrated him,” said Bass. “He is athletic.”
Sophomore Justin Bowden lost a long three-set match at second singles. He won the first set, but lost the second set in a tiebreaker.
“It was very competitive at second singles,” Bass noted. “Justin has improved a lot since last year. He didn’t play singles at all last season.”
Bulldog freshman Brandon Prater lost at third singles in straight sets.
Junior Luke Archer and sophomore Josh Thaxton fell at first doubles in two sets. Junior Mohamad Khalil and senior Jesse Okuly lost at second doubles in straight sets.
Ada plays its next match Thursday, April 4 at Wapakoneta. The Bulldogs host Fostoria in the home opener April 9.
