ONU golfer Honigford breaks own school record
GRANVILLE __ Senior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) broke her own school record by two shots, firing a 5-under par 68 to lead the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a victory at the Denison Spring Shootout in the regular season finale on Sunday.
The Basics
The Polar Bears carded a 21-over par 313 to win the 5-team tournament.
Host Denison was second with a 316, Wooster was third with a 324, Muskingum was fourth with a 373 and Ohio Wesleyan was fifth with a 449.
ONU Record: 63-35 Overall.
Venue: Denison Golf Club - Granville, Ohio.
ONU Individuals
Senior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) won Medalist honors by 8 shots in the 34-woman field.
Sophomore Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) tied for fourth with a 77.
Junior Rhianna Firmstone (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) tied for eighth with an 81.
Junior Amelia Burger (Centerville) was 17th with an 87.
Notables
Honigford has been Medalist 21 times in 45 career tournaments.
Her 68 was two shots better than her pervious record of 70, set earlier this year.
The tournament was one 18-hole round.
Head coach Chad Bucci is 436-283-2 in his 11th season at the helm of the ONU women's golf team, a winning percentage of .606.
