Buckeye Ave. temporary closing for traffic flow and parking project, May 21-22
By Paula Pyzik Scott
The Village of Ada has announced that Buckeye Avenue will be temporarily closed to through traffic on May 21-22 for implementation of the Buckeye Avenue one-way traffic flow and reverse angle parking project.
- Road closure is scheduled for Wednesday morning, May 21, for East Buckeye which will be for one day only.
- Road closure for West Buckeye is scheduled for early Thursday, May 22, for one day only.
- Street parking on Buckeye will also be restricted on these days.
The Village announcement notes, "We apologize for the inconvenience. Public meetings, council committee meetings and recommendations from our contracted engineers have shown the need for this project and the benefits of the new traffic flow and parking design. Please reach out to the Village office (419-634-4045) with any questions."
The project was designed to improve safety for cars and pedestrians at the intersection of Main and Buckeye without removing existing parking spaces to improve lines of sight. Some 12 additional spaces will be created with the design.
Main St. has restrictions on overnight parking from 2:00-6:00 a.m. Buckeye will not have such restrictions.
This project was finalized in September 2024 following special public meetings to review and develop concepts. The final design creates one-way traffic flow away from Main St.: east towards Johnson St. and west toward Gilbert St. Reverse angle parking will be created on the south side of Buckeye.
The project includes removing old pavement markings, painting new markings, and adding signage to direct traffic and parking.
