Union workers at Wilson Sporting Goods stage lunch-hour picketing
By Paula Pyzik Scott
Union workers at Ada's Wilson Sporting Goods football factory began staging informational picketing on Monday, October 12 in response to what union president Derek Gibson calls "offering us a very unfair contract."
The current contract is set to expire on Friday night, October 16. The workers are members of Local 1385 of the Chicago and Midwest Joint Board Workers United union.
Messages on the picket line include "The cost of living went up... Our wages didn't!" and "We want a contract not a conflict. Fair deal, strong workforce, better future."
