Seth Miehls opens "Barbers on Main" in Ada
There’s a new barber in Ada and he’s open for business.
Seth Miehls, whose mother, Jill Epley Miehls is originally from Ada, opened Barbers on Main at 402 S. Main St., Ada, in late January.
Miehls graduated from Ron West Barber College, Dayton, in November.
“I was planning to start barbering in Lima,” he told the Icon. “Ada turned out to be a surprise. Along with his parents, he bought the 402 S. Main St. building, remodeled it and set up shop.
One of the quaint additions to the shop is a large antique barber’s back bar from the 1880s. He purchased it in a Beaverdam antique shop. The back bar – you can’t miss it when you enter the shop – was originally in an Illinois barbershop, and as Miehl’s said, “Once upon a time it survived an earthquake.”
Another antique in the shop is what customers will sit in when getting their haircuts: A 1913 restored Koken barber chair that looks brand new.
Haircuts are offered by appointment or by walk-ins. Barbering hours follow:
• Monday 1-8 p.m.
• Tuesday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Saturday – 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The business phone is: 567-712-3730.
