Mary Arthur was an Ohio Northern University graduate
Mary Margaret Arthur, 87, died at 1:45 p.m. June 20, 2014, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. She was born April 10, 1927, in Lima to the late Raymond and LaDonna (Williams) Zimmerman. On Dec. 21, 1947, she married Melvyn C. Arthur and he died June 12, 2014.
Mrs. Arthur was a retired teacher. She taught at Beaverdam, Moulton and Pandora-Gilboa schools. She had also worked at City Loan in Lima. She graduated from Beaverdam High School and Ohio Northern University.
She served on the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Putnam County, and was a member of the Putnam County Retired Teachers Association She was a member of the Gilboa United Methodist Church, the Twig Benders Mothers Club. and the Gilboa American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons Carey (Patsy) Arthur of Pandora, Mark (Joyce) Arthur of Lake Mary, Fla., Kent (Connie) Arthur of Pandora; nine grandchildren Annie (Michael) Gill, Amie (Nathaniel) Smith, Erin (Chris) Davis, Isaac (Ashlyn) Arthur, Jackie (Jason) Stall, Jessie (Nathan) Eubank, Caleb (Jessie) Arthur, Levi (Courtney) Arthur, and Amelia Arthur; 16 great grandchildren; and a sister Wilma Sanyi of Bluffton.
She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Zimmerman.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday June 24, at Gilboa United Methodist Church. Pastors Vijay Buck and Tom Graves officiating. Burial will be in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gilboa United Methodist Church or the Pandoa-Gilboa Athletic Boosters.
